Training
The Misbourne Practice is playing it's part to help protect the future of General Practice by offering young doctors the opportunity to experience working as a GP. We have been approved as a teaching practice and have Foundation Year 2 doctors working with us as part of their training. These doctors hold surgeries and make home visits just as the other GPs do. The Practice is committed to supporting and training these doctors to become safe, caring, competent and enthusiastic General Practioners.
The Foundation Doctors are fully registered with the General Medical Council and have at least 1 year of postgraduate experience. They are completing their initial 2 year period following qualification. This allows them to experience several specialties prior to deciding on their future career path.
One of the GPs always supervises the Foundation Doctor and is available for advice immediately if necessary. Their Educational Supervisors are Dr Hettiaratchi and Dr Aleem, but all doctors and staff are actively involved in their training.
You may find that on some occasions the Foundation Doctor asks your permission to video the consultation. The video is reviewed at a later date by the Educational Supervisor to help improve the doctor's communication skills and is used for teaching purposes. The video will be erased completely once reviewed. Of course video recording will only happen with your consent and there is no problem if you would prefer this not to happen.
